Monroe Lawmaker Lauds Passage of Business-Friendly Legislation

HARTFORD – On Saturday, State Representative J.P. Sredzinski (R-112) applauded the passage by the House of Representatives of business-friendly legislation he cosponsored.

The bill will allow executive agencies to waive civil penalties on businesses who are first time offenders of statutory regulations, as long as the business makes remedial measures within 30 days to correct the violation.

“We are constantly making revisions to business regulations, and it is easy for a small business owner to miss one of these changes,” said Rep. Sredzinski. “If a business makes a minor error and wants to honestly remediate that violation, I think it makes sense to give them a second chance. We need more bills like this that look to help businesses instead of putting even harsher restrictions on them if we want to improve Connecticut’s reputation with the business community.”

The bill now heads to the state Senate for its approval. The legislative session adjourns at midnight on Wednesday, May 4th.
