Monroe Officer's Future Discussed at Crowded Meeting: Report
Cancer survivor Andrew Wall wants to return to active duty, but he may not be able to.

MONROE, CT — In front of a packed pre-termination hearing at town hall, Monroe's Board of Police Commissioners tabled the future of veteran officer Andrew Wall's employment Monday night, reports the Monroe Courier. Wall, a 22-year-veteran of the department, wishes to return to active duty after surviving a battle with brain cancer.
However, town officials say that a letter written by Wall's doctor does not include the specifics necessary to give the officer the go-ahead to return to active duty. A second letter written by a different physician was rejected by Police Chief John Salvatore, who said that the doctor who sent the letter was not from Wall's primary care physician.
A petition in support of Wall has been signed by 973 supporters. It was not yet clear when Wall's matter will be heard again, however the next round of deliberations will be public.
