Monroe Resident Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

Jill Bruno Wins "Cash5" Game's Top Prize with a "Quick Pick" on May 5.

The following is a press release from the Connecticut Lottery.

ROCKY HILL — On Sunday, May 5, Jill Bruno of Monroe took a chance and purchased a Cash5 lottery ticket for $1, letting the lottery terminal randomly select her numbers for her. Later that evening, Bruno's chance paid off in a big way when the "Quick Pick" numbers on her ticket turned out to be a perfect match to the winning Cash5 numbers drawn.

"I looked up the winning numbers on the lottery’s website (ctlottery.org) at about 11:30 p.m. and saw what I won … $100,000! I went nuts!" Bruno told Lottery officials exuberantly.

The Cash5 numbers drawn on May 5, 2013 were 2-16-29-31-33. A total of 3,242 winning tickets were sold statewide for that drawing. Prize values ranged from $2 to $100,000 each.

Bruno arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill with her family to collect a prize check for $68,300 (prize value after taxes).

"I was laid off last June after 20 years of employment," Bruno said. "The (prize) money will be a big help in paying for a remodeling project at home. We'd also like to take our nephew and nieces to Disney World — and get a dog!" Bruno added laughing. "We're very excited about that!"

For selling Bruno her $100,000 prize winning ticket, the 7-Eleven Store, located at 1607 Barnum Street in Stratford, will receive a $1,000 selling bonus from the CT Lottery.
