Monroe Man Steals $3,000 Worth of Fishing Rods, Additional Items from Neighbor: Police

Monroe police said the man stole twice from his neighbor's garage and pawned the items.

MONROE, CT — Monroe police announced on Monday that they arrested Frank Benegoss, 39, of Monroe on June 23, 2016 for two counts of third degree burglary. Police said they were called to Windgate Circle for a burglary and the homeowner reported that someone entered his garage and stole his fishing rods.

Through their investigation, detectives said they found that the rods had been pawned in Bridgeport by Frank Benegoss, a neighbor of the victim. Several days after the initial burglary, Benegoss entered the victim’s garage again and stole additional items which were also pawned, police said. The value of items stolen was over $3,000.

Benegoss turned himself into police on the morning of August 1, 2016 and was unable to post his $10,000 bond. He was transported to court for arraignment.
