Two U11 lacrosse teams cheered on the Masuk Panthers from the stands Monday when the Panthers battled the Gaels from Shelton.
"High school kids from the boys and girls varsity teams come out and work with our youngest kids, so we're here to support them as well," said Brian Quinn, a coach and the boys program director for the Monroe Lacrosse Association.
Quinn said Masuk's athletes teach the game to kindergarteners and first graders in MLA's Fiddlesticks Program.
Attending the game with Quinn was fellow coach, Steve Baranello, who is also an MLA Board member and the organization's webmaster.
Quinn said lacrosse's popularity continues to grow in Monroe with 50 more children participating in the boys and girls programs - a 20% increase.
There are three U11 Lightning teams for the boys and one girls team this year.
