Obituary: Robert E. Johnson, 92, Lifelong Monroe Resident

He especially liked the antique tractor pulls and could be seen quite often cheering his son Jimmy on.

Robert E. Johnson, 92 a lifelong resident of Monroe died at his home June 17, 2017.

Bob was the son of Herbert & Mable Johnson. Bob grew up on the family farm, Soundview Dairy, with his brothers Merwin and Norman. Bob loved farming but later he worked for the Town of Monroe Highway Department. Bob married Helen Roberts and they had a son Jimmy. After Bob's retirement he enjoyed woodworking and going to country fairs.

He especially liked the antique tractor pulls and could be seen quite often cheering his son Jimmy on. Bob is survived by his son Jim and several nieces & nephews. Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife Helen and his two brothers Merwin and Norman.

A celebration of his life will take place on Friday June 23 from 4-8PM at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT 06468. A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 11 AM at The Cutlers Farm Cemetery in Monroe. At the family's request please dress in your favorite Hawaiian shirt or John Deere attire.
