Officials to Discuss Budget Before a 2nd Referendum Vote

The first selectman has scheduled a joint meeting, which will be televised, for April 10.

First Selectman Steve Vavrek has scheduled a joint meeting of the Board of Finance, Town Council and Board of Education to discuss the budget proposal for 2013-14, following the referendum defeat on Tuesday. It will be held on April 10 in the Masuk High School Media Center at 6:30 p.m.

"The purpose of this meeting is for me to receive your input on the budget," Vavrek told elected officials in a memo Wednesday. "This meeting will be televised and available for viewing on Channel 17, the Town of Monroe's website and social
media sites. I ask that you please make every effort to attend."

The first selectman has scheduled the meeting in accordance with Chapter VIII, Section 6, of the Monroe Town Charter.

After gathering input, Vavrek can adjust the budget proposal in time for a second referendum on April 23.
