First Selectman Steve Vavrek has scheduled a meeting on the town budget for Thursday night at 7:30 in response to Tuesday's referendum defeat. The Charter required meeting will be held inside the Council Chambers of Monroe Town Hall. Vavrek will seek input from all elected officials — Board of Finance, Town Council and Board of Education — and residents before making revisions in time for a third referendum vote. The first selectman has said he will focus on cuts to programs rather than from infrastructure and personnel.
