Police Arrest Fairfield Man for DUI

Officers say the driver swerved over the yellow center line on Main Street at around 2:01 a.m. on April 14.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

 

A Fairfield man was arrested for drunken driving at around 2:01 a.m. on April 14. Police said an officer driving a car length behind his '06 Honda Odyssey, while heading south on Main Street, saw the vehicle swerved in its lane before crossing the yellow center line.

David Riordan, 43, of Hurd Street was charged with DUI, operating without carrying a license and failure to drive in the proper lane and released on $500 bond for an April 23 court date.

When Riordan's vehicle was stopped, police said he had no form of identification on him, had glassy eyes, a dazed look and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on him, and that he told officers he was coming from a friend in Newtown's house where he had "a couple drinks.

Field tests at the scene determined Riordan was under the influence, leading to his arrest, police said, adding breath tests at headquarters showed a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.
