Police arrested a 25-year-old Diane Drive man for possession of cocaine following a traffic routine stop on Elm Street at 3:30 a.m. on July 20.
Matthew Farrell III was charged with possession of narcotics and held on $500 bond for a July 30 court date.
An officer stopped Farrell driving a 2000 Ford Focus, because police said the license plate light was out.
Farrell had bloodshot and glossed over eyes and his pupils did not react to light given off by the officer's flashlight, police said, adding he was sweating profusely. Field sobriety tests determined Farrell was not under the influence, according to the report.
However, police said Farrell consented to a search of his vehicle and a crushed cigarette pack found on the driver's side floor contained a chewing gum box with a glassine bag of powder which tested positive for cocaine.
