Police Arrest Woman for Larceny After Stealing Credit Card From Big Y Shopper

Monroe police said a woman's purse was stolen and later turned into Customer Service but was missing cash and her credit card.

MONROE, CT — A 29-year-old Shelton woman was arrested by Monroe police for an alleged shoplifting incident on July 29, police said. Monroe police were called when a victim reported that her purse was taken from her carriage while shopping at Big Y in Monroe.

Monroe police said the woman's purse was turned into Customer Service but was missing cash and her credit card. While reporting the missing credit card to the bank, the victim was notified that the card had already been used at several businesses on Monroe Turnpike, including the Big Y, for over $200. Through the course of a police investigation, the suspect was identified as Caitlin O'Reilly.

An arrest warrant was obtained for O'Reilly and she turned herself in to police on Friday, August 12. Caitlin O'Reilly was arrested and charged with sixth degree larceny, credit card theft and four counts of illegal use of credit card .She was released on a $10,000 bond with a court date of August 19.
