Rolling Stone Pizza's mobile, wood-fired oven was at the Monroe Farmers' Market on Friday afternoon and should be a regular at the weekly event, according to owner Joe DeVellis.
"We came last year and it worked well," he said. "That's why we came back."
Patrons could order the traditional, cheese, pepperoni and sausage pies Friday, but specials were also advertised on a chalkboard sign.
The Monroe Farmers' Market Veggie was topped with tomatoes, onions, broccoli, ricotta and roasted peppers. And the Fig & Prosciutto pizza was made with fig jam, mozzarella, a little Gorgonzola and a balsamic glaze.
"We would use fresh figs, but they're not in season yet," DeVellis said of the latter special.
The pizza oven is owned by Carl Anthony's Trattoria, 477 Main Street in Monroe.
DeVellis, who co-owns the restaurant with his brother Sam and their cousin Idilio, said they bought the mobile brick oven two years ago.
The family members had acquired the space in Clock Tower Square when it was Carl Anthony's in 1998.
"We remodeled it, put in a bar and made it a full-blown restaurant," DeVellis said.
Both he and his brother Sam are chefs.
