Unconscious Driver Hospitalized After Pickup Hits a Tree on Garder Rd.

An unconscious man was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon, after losing control of his pickup truck and hitting a tree in the 300-block of Garder Road, with a portion of the truck ending up in a swamp, according to a report from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.

Kevin Catalano, the fire company spokesman, said police, firefighters and EMS volunteers responded to the accident at 1:10 p.m., adding that neighbors came to the driver's aid before emergency service personnel arrived.

Police are investigating the accident, which occurred on a dirt portion of Garder road off of Fan Hill Road, Catalano said.
