'Serious Collision' On Route 8 Causes Significant Traffic Delays: Naugatuck PD

NAUGATUCK, CT — A serious three-vehicle crash on Route 8 shut down the highway around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Police said that as of Thursday evening the Borough is experiencing significant traffic delays in the areas of Bridge Street, Union City, Prospect Street, and North Church Street "due to a serious collision" that occurred on Route 8 southbound, police said.

Naugatuck police are working with state police and the state Department of Transportation to alleviate traffic but motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
