WATERURY, CT — Independence Day is fast approaching so it's time to find out where you can celebrate in and around Waterbury. Area events include fireworks, festivals and other Fourth of July fun.

July 4 Festivities For 2024

What: Food truck and fireworks extravaganza
Where: Brass Mill Center
When: July 6-7, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

The two-day event will take place in the JCPenney parking lot from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day with food trucks and various vendors.

The fireworks display, hosted by the city of Waterbury, will be launched from Holy Land Summit in front of the mall on Sunday, July 7.

The first annual commemoration of the nation’s independence was in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, while the Revolutionary War was ongoing. Fireworks have been part of Fourth of July festivities since the first celebration in Philadelphia.
