Break out your wildest knits and join us for a holiday concert that's as fun & festive as
your favorite ugly Christmas sweater!
Packed with seasonal classics, toe-tapping tunes,
and a generous sprinkle of holiday cheer,
join us as we toast the season with music
and a little bit of mischief!

“Holiday Pops is our way of bringing the entire community together in music, joy, and a bit of laughter,” said Maestro Leif Bjaland. “This year’s ‘Ugly Sweater Edition’ gives us permission to celebrate the season not just beautifully — but playfully. We want families to feel the warmth, humor, and connection that music inspires."

This performance will feature 50 of WSO’s professional orchestra musicians along with Connecticut-born soprano Katie Nicole Weiser, performing in arrangements both nostalgic and newly imagined.

Adding to the evening’s charm, the concert will feature a special appearance by children from Bravo Waterbury!, the orchestra’s acclaimed after-school music program. Now in its 13th year, Bravo Waterbury! continues to transform lives through music education for underserved children and families in the Greater Waterbury community.

Praised by Connecticut Magazine as “golden voiced,” Connecticut native Katie Weiser has performed across the U.S. and Europe in opera, concert, and recital.

A graduate of the University of Music in Graz, Austria, she also holds a Master’s degree in
Vocal Performance from the Setnor School of Music
and a B.A. in Music from Smith College.

Her credits include performances at Lincoln Center, with the New York City Ballet, and in Baroque and classical works across Italy and Austria.

"Wear a Sweater,

Give a Sweater"

As part of our December 7th Christmas in Connecticut:
Ugly Sweater Edition concert, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra is proud to partner with Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury for a seasonal community initiative,
“Wear a Sweater, Give a Sweater.”

Patrons are invited to bring new or gently used sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to donate at the performance. All collected items will support Safe Haven’s vital mission of providing emergency shelter, services, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by domestic violence throughout the Greater Waterbury region.

We are honored to help support Safe Haven’s work during the winter months, and we encourage our audience to join us in offering warmth, comfort, and care to neighbors in need!

“This concert is about joy — both in giving and in gathering,” shared WSO's Executive Director Doug Donato, “Music has the power to warm the heart, and this year, we’re adding a little warmth for others, too."
