Naugatuck Fire Chief Announces Retirement

Fire Chief Ken Hanks' retirement will begin as of Aug. 28.

Naugatuck Fire Chief Ken Hanks announced last week that he will retire from the department as of Aug. 28, according to the Republican-American.

Hanks, 54, a lifelong Naugatuck resident and current president of the Naugatuck Historical Society, served as fire chief for four years, stepping into the role following the resignation of former Fire Chief Charles Doback Jr.

Hanks’ contract with the borough expired June 30 and was negotiating a new contract but the sides couldn’t reach an agreement and he decided to retire after talking it over with his family, according to the Rep-Am.
