Naugatuck Considers Light Switch
A plan to switch the current street lights and lamps to LEDs could reportedly save the borough about $200,000 a year.

Naugatuck will partner with Energy Services Co., or ESCO, of Lenox, Massachusetts, to determine whether it would be worth it for the borough to switch street lights and municipal-owned lamp posts to LEDs, according to the Republican-American.
An agreement between ESCO and the borough will allow the company to conduct a mapping and auditing system of about 1,800 light posts, the Rep-Am reports.
Naugatuck’s current lights need to be replaced every six years and the new LEDs would be under warranty for 10 years and are expected to last between 10 and 15 years, which could result in an estimated savings of $200,000 per year, according to the Rep-Am.
