NAUGATUCK, CT — A man accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old in the parking lot of a Naugatuck plaza last year was recently arrested in New York and extradited to Connecticut this week, according to police.
In a news release, police said they received a report on Oct. 2 of a possible sexual assault in the parking lot of Mountview Plaza on Rubber Avenue.
According to police, officers learned the suspect and a 16-year-old had met through social media but remained unknown to each other.

After further investigation, officers learned Joseph Montalvo Jr., 21, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and the 16-year-old had agreed to meet in person, after which Montalvo refused to bring the teen home until she had sex with him and engaged in unwanted violent sexual acts with her, according to police.
An arrest warrant was later granted for Montalvo, and he was arrested by police in East Fishkill, N.Y., on Jan. 15, according to police.
