It is with deep sadness that we announce that Catherine (Kate) Nancy Sasso-Billings, age 47, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, surrounded by her family, after an almost 2 year battle with kidney cancer.

Kate was born on March 23rd, 1977, in Waterbury, the daughter of Pamela and the late Pasquale Sasso. Kate was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Lyndon State College. She worked as a social worker for over 20 years, and touched the lives of countless people, patients, families, and staff alike. She frequently cited her work as one of her greatest passions.
Outside of work, Kate enjoyed spending time in northern Vermont, and playing with her cat and dog. She was incredibly passionate about her family, and loved to take Disney World vacations.

Kate is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Benjamin “Ben” Billings, her mother, Pamela “Pam” Sasso, and her daughter, Hannah Billings. She also leaves behind her brother, Marc Sasso, his wife, Leslie Sasso, and her nephews, Nicholas “Nick” Sasso, Vincent “Vinny”, Sasso, and Anthony Sasso. She was predeceased by her father, Pasquale “Pat” Sasso.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at United Methodist Church, 208 Meadow Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be private. Kate’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Harold Leever Memorial Cancer Center, Yale Smilow Cancer Center, St. Mary’s Hospital Sacred Heart 3, and VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care shown to her. Additionally, they would like to thank Consuelito Medrano, MD, and Gabriella Mascioli, PA-C, for going above and beyond in their care of her, and keeping her spirits up throughout her cancer journey.
