Peter Barry Gorton, 79, of Milford, died peacefully on June 20, 2025
An Army Veteran, Peter was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, had a strong faith, & was a loving husband, father, & grandfather.

Peter Barry Gorton, 79, of Milford, died peacefully on June 20, 2025 in his home surrounded by family. Born August 7, 1945, in Queens, New York, to the late Walter Francis and Marguerite Florence Gorton, and was raised in Franklin Square with his brother, Douglas. Graduated from Molloy High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts. Following his service, he earned his master's degree from St. John’s University and worked over 50 years in sales.
In his free time, he was a volunteer firefighter. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, first in Naugatuck and then in Milford. On Monday nights, he enjoyed the food and companionship of the St. Joseph's Men's Club. He loved playing board games with his grandchildren and watching movies. Peter meant so much to so many and will be missed tremendously.
Survivors include his beloved wife Martha, they were married for 55 years and shared a life filled with love, partnership, and devotion. He was the loving father of four daughters. Anne Kiernan and her husband Paul of Milford, Liz Howard and her husband Jason of St. Joseph, Missouri, Margaret Martinez and her husband Rich of Mineola, New York, and Theresa Christo and her husband Jared of Stoneham, Massachusetts. He was the proud grandfather of Katherine, Matthew, Bridget, Grace, Sebastien, Luke, Nick, Siena, R.J., and Heaven. Held close to his heart was his sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law George. Also very dear to him was his many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Cody-White, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., please meet directly at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT. Entombment to follow at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.
