Police said part of the road will become a one-way street this week while other sections of the road will still maintain two-way traffic.
NAUGATUCK, CT — Beginning Thursday, the area of Cliff Street between Fairview Avenue and Walnut Street will become a one-way street, allowing eastbound traffic only.
In a news release, police emphasized only this section of Cliff Street will become a one-way street while the area of Cliff Street from Walnut Street to Aetna Street will still maintain two-way traffic.
Drivers exiting Walnut Street will still be allowed to turn left or right. Vehicles traveling to the west or south ends of Cliff Street or trying to gain access to Walnut Street through Cliff Street are encouraged to take Frederick Street, located approximately 100 feet south of Cliff Street, police said.

According to police, this change is the result of complaints the department has received regarding the street not allowing for safe passage of two-way traffic with on-street parking on both sides of the street.
After receiving these complaints, Naugatuck police conducted a traffic study and looked at several possible solutions to include removing on street parking and allowing parking on only one side of the street, police said.
