Naugatuck Public Schools has announced both the student and teacher of the month for February 2025 at Naugatuck High School.
NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Public Schools has announced both the student and teacher of the month for February 2025 at Naugatuck High School.
In a recent Facebook post, district officials named Yakira Warner as student of the month and culinary instructor Diane Doherty as teacher of the month.
According to the district, Warner's teachers describe her as an exceptional student who consistently goes above and beyond expectations.

"Yakira is someone who is always doing the right thing, even when no one is looking," one teacher wrote, according to the district's Facebook post. "She is quiet, thoughtful, kind, and always focused on learning. She is smart and a wonderful writer, yet never boasts about her abilities. She is a beautiful soul both inside and out, and helps set the tone for learning in my room."
The district also spoke highly of Doherty as "an invaluable part of NHS for a bit now" whose impact goes far beyond the classroom.

"She goes above and beyond just teaching students to cook," one parent wrote, according to the district's Facebook post. "She’s been a wonderful support for both my children. NHS is lucky to still have her there."
District officials congratulated Warner and Doherty for their outstanding contributions and thanked them both for making NHS a better place each day.
