Man, 47, Shot After Trying To Stop 2 From Breaking Into Work Van: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man who tried to stop two people from breaking into his work van was shot in the leg by one of the alleged thieves, police said.

The 47-year-old confronted two people on the 100-block of Lowin Avenue in the upper Westville section of the city at around 1 a.m., when one of the two shot him in the leg, police spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr said. After the shooting, the two people fled in a vehicle, Carr said, and though cops searched the area, she said, they were not located.

The man was treated on the scene by first responders and then taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where, Carr said, his injury was deemed non-life-threatening.

Police Major Crime unit detectives are investigating.
