Mayor Harp to Honor Career Pathways TECH Collaborative Graduates

Harp will be joined by federal, state and local leaders and educators to celebrate the high school students on Tuesday, May 24.

On Tuesday, May 24, Mayor Toni N. Harp will be joined by federal, state and local leaders and educators to celebrate New Haven students’ end-of-year graduation from a unique after-school technology program operated by The Justice Education Center’s Career Pathways TECH Collaborative at Eli Whitney Technical High School from 3:45-4:45 p.m.

“These students travel from traditional and non-traditional schools throughout the city of New Haven to attend the Career Pathways TECH Collaborative. They receive important hands-on training in the fields of plumbing, weatherization, manufacturing and culinary arts”, said Mayor Harp. “Their extraordinary commitment to enter technology careers and their hard work and dedication deserve to be recognized and celebrated.”

Career Pathways TECH Collaborative students will have an opportunity to speak about and present examples of their work, which will include a meal prepared by the culinary class for their families and other distinguished guests and supporters.

The Career Pathways TECH Collaborative, developed and operated by The Justice Education Center, Inc., is a public/private partnership with the City of New Haven and its YouthStat initiative, the New Haven Board of Education, Eli Whitney Technical High School, the Department of Justice, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association/CBIA Education Foundation, the Charter Oak Group and the Integrated Wellness Group.

“There are many avenues for a successful career. The Career Pathways Collaborative provides dedicated students the opportunity to match their aptitudes and interests to projected growth industries in Connecticut," said Sherry Haller, executive director of The Justice Education Center. “I am grateful that we are able to work hand-in-hand with our state leaders, the city of New Haven, the New Haven Board of Education and the Department of Education’s Technical High School System to make these opportunities a reality for our youth”, she said.
