New Haven Man, 26, Charged With Murder In October 2023 Shooting: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police have charged a New Haven man in connection with the fatal shooting of Tyrese Blue, Jr. last fall.
Lewis Santiago, 26, of New Haven, is charged with Blue's murder.
On Oct. 14, 2023 at just after 8:30 p.m., police got a call about an "unresponsive person" at Cedar and Cassius streets in the Hill. They found Blue, 26, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Lifesaving measures were taken by first responders, but he was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators learned that there was an argument heard, and then, gunfire in that area of the Hill near the Metro North train yards.
Investigated by New Haven police detectives from the Major Crimes Unit, detective Dash secured an arrest warrant for Santiago, who was taken into custody last week.

Santiago, who also has pending unrelated criminal charges, was charged with murder, murder in the commission of a felony, and several gun-related charges on April 26.
Lewis is being held at the New Haven Correctional Center on $3 million bail. He is due in court May 8.
