New Jersey Man, 55, Struck, Killed On I-95S In New Haven: State Police

Driver Alexis Vincente, stopped on I-95S near New Haven off-ramp, was outside his vehicle for an "unknown reason" when he was struck: CSP.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 55-year-old New Jersey man was struck and killed on the Q-Bridge near the Interstate 95 southbound exit 46 in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday, state police said.

According to a report, driver Alexis Vincente, of Union City, was stopped on the highway near the New Haven off-ramp and outside his vehicle for an "unknown reason" when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the right lane, state police said.

Police said life-saving measures were performed by the first arriving Connecticut State Troopers, the report reads. Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, Vincente died as a result of his injuries, state police said. A next of kin notification was made, police said.

Interstate 95 southbound in the area was closed for several hours as state police from Troop G investigated.

State police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Trooper Farrow #1214, at 203-696-2500 or rahiem.farrow@ct.gov.

State police are also asking that anyone who may have been driving through the area of the collision at the time of the crash, and may have footage recorded on a vehicle equipped dashboard camera, contact Troop G in Bridgeport. The collision remains under investigation.
