Teen Charged In Shooting Of Woman, 21, Held On $1M Bail: Police

On the night of Nov. 27, cops found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds to her stomach and back inside a Blake Street house, police said.

The juvenile was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, first-degree ​reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and other firearm-related charges, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A teen was charged this week, and held on $1 million bail, in connection with the Nov. 27 shooting of a 21-year-old woman, police said.

Reported at the time as having been shot in the stomach and back, the woman, found inside a Blake Street home, was then listed in critical condition and remains under medical care, spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle Carr said. The juvenile was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and other firearm-related charges, Carr said.

Police were called to Blake Street near Whittlesey Avenue at 9:30 p.m., on Nov. 27, for a report of a gunshot victim found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds, police said at the time.

Carr said that it was initially reported to officers that "the suspect responsible for the shooting was barricaded in a residence located on Blake Street," but a house was checked and that person wasn't found.
