Vision 2034: Once In A Decade Chance To Have Say In New Haven's Future
This year's Comprehensive Plan coincides with New Haven's 250th anniversary as an incorporated city, spanning from 1784 to 2034.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Once every 10 years, the city develops its Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a blueprint and policy guide for New Haven's future. This time, the plan takes on added significance, as it coincides with New Haven's 250th anniversary as an incorporated city, spanning from 1784 to 2034.
"As we approach this milestone in the life of our city, it’s important for us to come together to reflect on the type of city we want to live in and the type of city we want our children to inherit," Mayor Justin Elicker wrote on Facebook. "And then to work together to make that a reality.
There will be many opportunities for residents to be involved and provide their thoughts and contributions.

"It’s an exciting time for the City of New Haven. We’re a growing city where more and more people want to continue to live, relocate to, work, visit, start a business, and raise a family," Elicker said. "However, with growth requires thoughtful planning that allows us to expand in a way that’s inclusive, equitable and sustainable for all our residents. Be a part of it."
Elicker will deliver opening remarks at the first community meeting for Vision 2034 Thursday. Participants can attend in person at Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, 150 Kimberly Ave., or online via Zoom.

The city notes this will be the "first of many opportunities throughout the year for residents to get involved in the planning process and provide their inputs on the plan’s goals, priorities and actions that will touch upon virtually every aspect of city life, including housing, neighborhood planning, land use, economic development, transportation, sustainability, and more."
