24th District State Senator, U.S. Navy Veteran Robert 'Bob' Thomas Miller Passed Away

He ran Bob's Auto Supply for many years in Danbury and New Milford and from 1985-1987 he served as a State Senator of the 24th District.

DANBURY, CT — Robert "Bob" Thomas Miller passed away Aug. 6, 2016 at the age of 82 due to complication from a stroke. He was born in the Bronx, NY on Nov. 30, 1933. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Thomas Miller and Margaret Patton Miller, as well as his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Jessup Miller, and his brother, John Peter Miller. Bob is survived by his wife, Lillian Arcery Miller. His children: Cynthia Szentkuti and her husband, Richard, of Ridgefield; Kathleen Zibell and her husband, Christopher, of New Milford; and Elizabeth Silk and her husband, Robert of Sharon. His 9 grandchildren: Charles, Alexandra and Nikole Szentkuti; Grace, Thomas and William Harper; and Glenna, Mackenzie and Brian Silk. His siblings: Margaret Miller Thurlow and her husband, Gregory, of New Milford; and James Miller and his wife, Loretta, of Danbury.

Bob was very proud of his service in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier Coral Sea during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. As an independent businessman, he ran Bob's Auto Supply for many years in Danbury and New Milford. From 1985-1987 he served as a State Senator of the 24th District. During his term he was dedicated to serving veterans and, in appreciation, received the Silver Medal of Merit from the Veterans of Foreign War. Bob was proud to have served for over 50 years as a mason. It was a very important part of his life.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 at the King Street United Church of Christ in Danbury, CT. Interment will be at a later date. Friends will be received from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
