Contractor Working On New Milford School Terminated After Fire

The contractor working on New Milford High School, where a fire did damage, has been terminated, according to a report.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Following a fire that damaged New Milford High School, town officials said they've terminated contractors working on the school's roof, according to NBC CT. The superintendent sent a letter to parents Tuesday explaining that a restoration company is still assessing classroom damage.

The first day of school is scheduled for Aug. 25, and somewhere between 10 to 50 classrooms will be affected.

The fire marshal is still investigating the blaze, which began on the roof where contractors were doing work using a blow torch to melt adhesive, according to NBC CT.

Six firefighters were injured and 60 people evacuated the building in the fire July 5. The building's roof suffered the majority of the damage. No staff or students were injured in the blaze.
