Gwen M. Guckian, of New Milford, Passed Away Peacefully

Her final years were spent happily at the New Milford Senior Center playing bridge and scrabble, making deep friendships.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Gwen M. Guckian died peacefully surrounded by her family in New Milford, CT, on Friday, July 8, 2016. Gwen was born in New Rochelle, NY and was the daughter of the late Anne (Kelleher) Morgan and David J. Morgan. She attended St. Gabriel's High School in New Rochelle, NY and Katherine Gibbs in New York, NY.

She is predeceased by her husband John B. Guckian, whom she married on August 8, 1953. She and John raised their family, first in New Rochelle, NY and then White Plains, NY, before moving to Danbury, CT in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Danbury. After the death of her husband in 2008, she moved to New Milford, CT.

To say that Gwen devoted her life to her family and friends would not paint the entire picture of memories shared by those whom she loved. She shared her gift of gab with everyone she came in contact with and her gift of generosity with those she opened her door to. She shared her creativity with those she gathered around her table, and shared her gift of compassion with the animals she loved and rescued throughout her life. Gwen was a loving wife, mother and friend, but it was her role of grandma that she cherished more than any other. She was a joyful grandmother, always available to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, showing patience, acceptance and unconditional love.
