New Milford Board Hires New Schools Superintendent
Janet Parlato was hired at the board's meeting last week.
NEW MILFORD, CT — The New Milford Board of Education appointed Janet Parlato of Cheshire as the district's new superintendent at a Thursday meeting. The move is effective Feb. 21.
Parlato has worked in the Watertown Public School system for nearly 10 years and is currently the principal of Watertown High School. She also spent many years in that district's central office serving in roles such as assistant superintendent and interim superintendent, according to a statement from the New Milford Board of Education.
Prior to Watertown, Parlato worked in Berlin, where she taught English for 15 years and served as an assistant principal for five years.

Parlato received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Connecticut and her Doctoral in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
The board said in a statement that they chose Parlato because she "has significant experience in a similar district and brings the wisdom, vision, experience, caring, and firmness that the Board feels we need at this point in time."

Parlato will replace interim superintendent JeanAnn Paddyfote, who was appointed in July to replace former schools chief Alisha DiCorpo, The Danbury News-Times reported.
