New Milford Councilman, Mayoral Candidate Owes Thousands In Unpaid Debts: Report
The debts have led to wage garnishments and liens against his home.

NEW MILFORD, CT — A local politician that will vie for town's highest office owes thousands in unpaid debts, reports the Greater New Milford Spectrum. Debts owed by Town Councilman Pete Bass, who is the Republican candidate for mayor, have resulted in wage garnishments and liens against his home.

Four lawsuits have been brought against Bass since 2008, mainly for medical and dental services. Creditors have filed eight liens against his home, six from hospitals or medical firms. Bass told the publication that he fell behind due to the great recession, as his work as a mortgage loan officer led to inconsistent commission payments.

Bass also attributed the late bills to health problems he suffered, including thyroid cancer surgery and a heart attack both within the last two years.
