New Milford Police Shooting: Armed Man Fatally Gunned Down By Police

A police-involved shooting resulted in a fatality Monday afternoon, according to state police.

NEW MILFORD, CT — A man armed with a shotgun was shot by police after he allegedly failed to follow police instructions during a disturbance in the woods near Outlook Road. Police say at 4:50 p.m. they responded to the disturbance when they saw a man leave the house and enter the woods.

Police say the man then approached officers with the weapon and ignored police demands to drop the weapon.

"The male ignored New Milford police demands to drop the shotgun resulting in at least one New Milford police officer discharging at least round from their duty weapon striking the male," said Trooper Kelly Grant of the Connecticut State Police. "New Milford officers immediately rendered first aid, and EMS transported the male to Danbury Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased."
