New Milford Residents Oppose Proposal For Scenic Bridge: Report
A group of residents is opposing a plan to widen a bridge to two lanes.

NEW MILFORD, CT — A group of residents are opposing a proposal to widen a bridge on scenic Cherniske Road in New Milford, according to CT Insider. The one-lane bridge was built in the 1930s, and a recent proposal would widen the bridge to two lanes.
The bridge received a poor rating in a 2017 review and, after attempts to repair it, was closed in January 2021. However, residents oppose the proposal to widen the bridge, citing the town's scenic road ordinance.
