New Milford Soccer Coach Resigns After Claims He Slapped Child: Report
Coach Lou Pereira was "suspended indefinitely, pending the outcome of the school investigation," a report says.
NEW MILFORD, CT — A New Milford Public Schools soccer coach has resigned from his position after being accused of slapping a student across the face last month, according to NewsTimes.
The incident occurred during soccer practice on the afternoon of Aug. 26, when New Milford High School principal Raymond Manka said "one of the student players was wearing a lacrosse jersey and that the coach, Lou Pereira, made a comment to him about it," the outlet reported.
Another player said they also had a lacrosse jersey and "that they thought of wearing it to practice," at which point Pereira slapped him across the face "in front of the entire team, Manka added, according to NewsTimes.

Pereira was "suspended indefinitely, pending the outcome of the school investigation," an incident report obtained by NewsTimes said. He officially resigned last Friday.
