New Milford Student Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

NEW MILFORD, CT — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the names of over 16,000 semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, including one from New Milford. These high school seniors are being recognized for academic achievement.

Semifinalists are granted an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million. The scholarships will be offered next spring.

The semifinalist from New Milford High School is Connor M. Sterling.

Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.

About 95 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing. Half the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.

Three types of National Merit Scholarships will be offered in the spring of 2023. Every finalist will compete for one of 2,500 National Merit $2,500 Scholarships..
