Speeding Car Going Over 65 MPH Nearly Hits New Milford Officers: PD

Police said they are searching for a driver accused of "buzzing" two police officers conducting a traffic stop.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Police are searching for a driver after police were nearly struck by a car going 65 mph.

Two New Milford Police Department officers were conducting a traffic stop May 24 at about 12:10 p.m. on Danbury Road near Pickett District Road.

The car, possibly a gray 2021 BMW M340xi with a black lip spoiler and a loud aftermarket exhaust, "buzzed" the two officers.

"The vehicle approached the cruisers--which were stationary in the right-hand lane with their emergency flashers activated--from behind and swerved and accelerated around them at more than 65 mph, coming within a few feet of a cruiser where an officer had been standing just two seconds before," police wrote in a Facebook post.

The car sped off north on Danbury Road, then north on Kent Road.

Police have a partial license plate and are reviewing video surveillance from the cruisers and several businesses along Danbury Road.

The vehicle is also believed to have run from police May 5 at 5 p.m. on Danbury Road.
