Attorney General Asks Court to Revive Sandy Hook Lawsuit: Report

A lawsuit against Remington Arms had been dismissed by a lower court.

NEWTOWN, CT — Citing that the dismissal discourage others from seeking justice in product liability lawsuits, Attorney General George Jepsen asked the Connecticut Supreme Court to revive a lawsuit against Remington Arms by families who lost children during the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, reports the News Times.

Jepson argues that the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act does not require a direct relationship between the families and Remington, after a lower-court judge dismissed the lawsuit because of the lack of relationship between the two parties.

The report further indicates Jepsen didn't take sides in his nine-page petition to the supreme court. Ten families filed suit against Remington, the distributor and retailer of the rifle used in the shooting.
