KATIE KINDILIEN

I grew up in Norwalk CT and currently reside in New Haven. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia. A year spent studying art in Rome inspired a lifelong desire to travel, study and paint wherever and whenever I can. I taught art in New Haven public schools for 25 years and continue to teach private lessons today. Along the way I’ve learned painting techniques from many wonderful artists, including Stephanie Birdsall, Julian Merrow-Smith, Kathy Anderson, Kathie Odom and Paul Foxton.

I have been an Artist in Residence at the Art Association of Nantucket. My paintings have been exhibited in galleries and art associations throughout New England, including Manhattanville College, The Art Association of Nantucket, Rowayton Art Center, the Essex Art Association and the Carriage Barn in New Canaan, to name a few. I had a oner person show at The DaSilva Gallery in New Haven in 2024.

STATEMENT

My work is inspired by the everyday moments of beauty that surround us. Whether I’m painting a still life in my studio, or a landscape outdoors, I hope to capture a sense of light, color and space, and I try to infuse the work with energy, feeling and authenticity. The process of putting paint to canvas and creating something that’s never been made before continues to excite me and bring me joy. I hope my paintings bring joy and light to those who look at them.
