Caretaker Steals Money, Credit Cards from Elderly Newtown Woman: Police
A local woman caring for an elderly Newtown woman is accused of conspiring with her boyfriend to stealing the woman's credit cards and cash.
NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown police arrested a pair of Waterbury residents for larceny after an investigation revealed the duo stole an elderly woman's credit cards and cash taken from one of the cards, according to a police report.
Police said that Earlisha Watson, 29, of Waterbury, and her ex-boyfriend, Michael Tallman, 24, also of Waterbury, stole the woman's credit card and withdrew cash. Watson, who was working as a caretaker for the Newtown resident, turned herself in to police in January after learning there was a warrant out for her arrest. Watson was charged with credit card theft by transfer and conspiracy to commit sixth degree larceny.
Tallman was arrested on Aug. 18 by Newtown police who traveled to New Haven to arrest him. He is accused of working in connection with Watson in the theft and illegal withdrawal of money, police said. Tallman is charged with sixth degree larceny, credit card theft and identity theft. He is due in court on Sept. 8 to answer to the charges.
