News that the large BP-Whiting refinery in Indiana, offline since early February due to power issues, is reopening soon may have contributed to easing pump price nerves, according to Alec Slatky, managing director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.
"The seasonal trend of price increases ahead of spring is paused, for now," Slatky said. "Prices could be wobbly over the next few weeks as we creep our way out of winter and get closer to when refineries switch to producing summer blend fuel."
