Check Out Newtown Students' Amazing Interview with a Vietnam Vet

Students interviewed Reed Intermediate teacher and Vietnam veteran James Roodhuysen as part of a documentary film project.

 

James Roodhuysen is a teacher at Reed Intermediate School. He's also a Vietnam veteran.

Roodhuysen's time in Vietnam is the subject of Crushed: The Lone Trail of a Vietnam Veteran, a short documentary piece by Newtown High School students. The project is called "Preserving Our History," according to the Newtown High School blog. Students include Jonathan Schwartz, Matthew Lindell, Briana Man, Alexa Reyes, Abi Kuligowski, Brooke Newton, Tim Kelly, Alex Lapinski, and Mitchell Roberts, with supervision by faculty adviser Gary Franklin.

Students are submitting the work to the 2013 Connecticut Student Film Festival, held April 26 at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury.
