Former Middle School Teacher Who Brought Loaded Gun to School Asks for Probation
BREAKING: An ex-Newtown Middle School teacher who was found carrying a loaded gun on school grounds is seeking accelerated probation.
NEWTOWN, CT — A former Newtown Middle School 8th grade science teacher accused of carrying a loaded .45-caliber pistol to school in April is asking for accelerated rehabilitation in order to clear the charges against him, according to Fox News. Court records show that Jason Adams, 46, is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Tuesday.
Adams, 46, resigned at the end of the school year and was placed on administrative leave in April. He had a valid permit for the gun but state law prohibits firearms on school grounds. Adams has pleaded not guilty to the charge of having a weapon on school property.
Adams was arrested and charged after a school employee notified a security guard who called police to the school.
