Hoaxer Sentenced For Death Threats Against Sandy Hook Family

BREAKING: Lucy Richards plead guilty to sending several death threats to a parent who lost a child during the 2012 Sandy Hook Massacre.

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL — A Florida woman will spend five months behind bars after pleading guilty to sending death threats to a parent who lost a child in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre. Lucy Richards, 57, of Tampa was sentenced five months in prison and five additional months of home confinement by U.S. District Judge James Cohn Wednesday. She will also be placed on three years of supervised release.

Richards plead guilty to sending several death threats to Lenny Pozner, the father of 6-year-old Noah Pozner who was killed on 12/14. Richards allegedly sent the threats to Lenny Pozner, who now lives in Florida, because she thought the shooting was a hoax.

Richards initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but was expected to change that plea during a March hearing. She failed to show up to her Mar. 29 change-of-plea hearing, and was later arrested on a warrant in Tampa, Florida.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen E. Gilbert.
