Human Remains Discovered In Newtown: Police

NEWTOWN, CT — Human remains were found in a wooded area off of Edmond Road on Friday afternoon, police said.

At 2:38 p.m. a caller reported finding human remains in a wooded area off of Edmond Road. Police said they confirmed that it was human remains, and authorities are investigating and trying to identify the remains.

"Preliminary investigation does not indicate any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances," police said. "This is an ongoing investigation, but no further information is planned to be released at this time."
