Letter: 'Senator Hwang Will Continue To Fight'
"Senator Hwang will continue to fight against the Lamont administration's continuous approval of ever higher rate increases…"
To the editor:
Voters in the 28th Senatorial District (Bethel, Easton, Newtown, and Fairfield) want a Senator who cares. Tony Hwang cares – cares about his family, his country, his state, and the people of the 28th District whom he desires to represent.
Senator Hwang is acutely aware of our runaway inflation that has sent Connecticut’s gas prices up 25.6%, fuel oil up 68.8%, electricity up 15.8% and groceries up 13.5% since last year (Rall, 2022), and they aren’t falling, except by pennies from time to time. I have known and respected Senator Hwang for many years and he has proven to be a man of his word whose only goal is to represent his constituents, no matter what the affiliation, with honestly and with integrity.

Senator Hwang will continue to fight against the Lamont administration’s continuous approval of ever higher rate increases, such as the recent approval of 12.9% and 7.9% 2023 premium increases, respectively, for individual and small group insurance plans. (Carlesso, 2022). Other plans will increase 20 – 25% in 2023 (Carlesso, 2022). Senator Hwang is aware of the pain that inflation brings all consumers and will continue his opposition to these rate increases and similar increases like the Aquarion request for a water rate hike of 27% (Turmelle, 2022).
I ask all voters, Republican, Democrat, minority party and unaffiliated to vote for yourself -Vote Row B to return Tony Hwang to the State Senate.
