To the Editor:

Our kids are struggling. From learning loss to increases in mental health struggles, the pandemic and other challenges our kids face are taking a toll.

We need a responsive and considerate leader in Hartford who can take on the challenge to ensure the health and safety of our kids. That leader is Tony Hwang.

After knowing Tony for years, I trust him to be our voice, and a voice for our children, in the Connecticut legislature. This past session he helped lead the legislature’s effort to address the youth mental health crisis (Public Acts 22-80, 22-81, 22-47), in addition to hosting forums engaging members across the community.

Tony also just received statewide recognition from the Connecticut Psychologists Association, being its Distinguished Legislator of the Year for “advocating for and supporting health and wellness, the interests of children and families, and investment in education,” according to CPA President Jennifer M. Doran.

His amazing track record, advocacy, and leadership on these issues come second to none. We have a true leader in the 28th, and I am proud to call him my state Senator.

Please join me in voting for proven leader Tony Hwang on November 8th! These opinions are my own, and not those of the Newtown Board of Education, of which I am a member.

For our kids,
