Major Road Closed Due To Crash, Downed Utility Pole In Newtown
Police said drivers should seek alternate routes "until further notice."

NEWTOWN, CT — Route 34 is closed in Newtown on Tuesday morning as a utility pole is down following a single-car crash, according to police.
Police posted the following on Facebook around 8 a.m.:
"Route 34 is currently closed between Zoar Rd and High Rock Rd due to a utility pole across the roadway. PLEASE SEEK ALTERNATIVE ROUTES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE."

The accident was at 6:50 a.m. at Route 34's intersection with Old Mill Road.
A car struck and knocked over a utility pole. Wires were in the road due to the crash.

The driver was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.
